Research Laboratory of Extreme and Crises Psychology created in 2006 on the basis of the leading university of the Emergency system of Ukraine - University of the Civil Defence of Ukraine (Ministry of emergencies of Ukraine №379 20 June 2006).

An owl (symbol of wisdom) and standard psychology symbol with our Ministry of Emergency of Ukraine symbol together with words: Understand, Assist, Protect - as a motto.

The motto reflects daily tasks of research laboratory of extreme and crises psychology workers.

The mission of laboratory:

  1. to carry out scientific research on emergency and crisis psychology;
  2. to develop and to improve the legal base regulating activity of psychological assistance service of the Ministry of emergency;
  3. to organize specific emergency assistance trainings for Ministry of emergencies’ staff using psycho-training programs;
  4. to develop and to put into action new psycho-technologies of work with distressed people and to resolve psychological problems appearing among rescue teams and civil population in emergency situations of natural, anthropogenic or social causes.

According to our mission we have two main priorities:

  1. carrying out scientific research on emergency and crisis psychology;
  2. approbation and introduction of new psycho-technologies into emergency psychologists’ work.
